What a nice action shot. Did you also get the impact shot? This creates the excitement of the chase…the impending impact is coming… It is just a very good photograph! Sharp too. A nice wall hanger.
Andy Nguyen replied
In actuality, at the point of impact, there’s so much splash it’s impossible to see anything. One would need to wait till the water calms down a bit to see the Osprey, and/or the fish. I’ve just uploaded the shot that came later in that sequence. Pls see my portfolio. Thx.

Thanks so much, Renee. It’s a difficult shot, but not impossible. With the right tools, knowledge of the subject, and lots of practice, I believe anyone with an interest can do it. Good luck! :)

Excellent osprey image!!! I love those birds!
Keeping the subject sharp at this high speeds is definitely a tough job but if you have a good camera and a good photographer then it’s a bit easier ;)

This is just one of the best wildlife shots I have ever seen, stunning camera work an amazing moment captured…well done!!! A fave and then some!! What camera setup do you use my friend?
Andy Nguyen replied
Hi Shaun,
Thanks for the wonderful comment. I was lucky to have captured three different shots of the dive, of different angles and different individual birds that day. This is the best shot of the day. I took it with a Nikon D300 camera, 300mm f4 lens with a 1.7x teleconverter, handheld.
Ranald
