This image is of a building on the corner of Colins St and Swanston St Melbourne.

This is a very famous building in Melbourne and anyone who lives here would have seen it.

For some reason I cant remember its name.

It sort of reminds me of my young days reading comics like Batman and the city he patrolled, Gotham City.

I made this image sort of dark and gothic for that reason.

This is fantastic mate! Love the angle and compo here. Pretty sure this one is the Manchester Unity building ? Might be wrong though..

  • Thanks mate you are not wrong it is the Manchester Unity Building. My brain needed a bit of prompting.

Nice one Andrew I am sure the Dark Knight would be impressed

  • Hhah thanks Ronan it does look a bit like that. The bloke that designed this also designed Canberra Burley Griffin. Strange I could not remember the name of the building lol

    G’day ANDREW!

I expect Batman to appear on one of the parapets at any moment – verrrrry Gotham City indeed!
And a mighty fine B&W of this striking moderrn gothic architecture.
Your exposure/processing has created a mood that works hand in glove with the whole ‘Goth’ feel about the building.

Great composition mate and love those play of clouds in this.

  • Thanks Draven I was pretty happy with this. Even the wintry Melbourne clouds helped.

Very Gotham City Andrew; nice association. This image is so free of extraneous distractions (not signs, planes, flags, balloons…) it could have been taken anytime, even 50 years ago. Nicely seen and captured.

  • Thanks Rhoufi I often walk by this building and have wanted to take a pic of it. I took this in latish afternoon so the sun was shining on it and Swanston street was dark.

I was going to make it a bit more dramatic but I thought this is enough drama lol

Are they shadecloths I spy on the roof Mak?? Someone got a garden growing up there?? Lovely shot mate.

  • They would be for a communal barbecue and recreational area Rosie. Nearly all the residential building in the city have one.

I may be shot for revealing this to an outsider lol
