The doorman lets into and guides people into functions at the Melbourne Town Hall.
After the function starts and most of the people have arrived there is little to do. So he passes the time reading a newspaper.
doorman, melbourne town hall, andrew makowiecki, melbourne function
Nicely captured Andrew. Hope his employer doesn’t get to see it. It might not matter in his job, but I worked in an operating theatre in the Royal Ear Nose and Throat Hospital in London once, and the anaesthetist used to read the paper once the patient was under – this really put the wind up me, because he was supposed to be monitoring the vital signs. Anaesthetics used for nose jobs are particularly deep and you have to be on the ball the whole time, not reading the bloody soccer results.
Hhahah nah it doesn’t matter in his job he always does this and has done for years. Once a function starts there is little to do except admit or turn away a few latecomers.
LOL about the paper reading anaesthetist, it would put the wind up me as well. As a patient I would at least want them to look like they are paying attention.
It wouldn’t sound good in a coroners inquiry either.
– Andrew Makowiecki
I would prefer a book if I could get away with it. I love the highlight on him rather than the stairs. Great shot.
Ah once a function begins he has nothing to do for a couple of hours except let in latecomers ( or turn them away Lol ).
Ive been wanting to take this shot for ages but is the first time I have managed it.
Nice tones Andrew like the way the figure is highlighted
He was in the light a bit more than the background so I was a bit lucky.
I had seen this shot a lot of times but had never managed to get one off before.
I hope his boss doesn’t see this Andrew!!! Great capture though, tells a story, and love your contrast and tones, I can’t think of the word that I am trying to find to describe them but it will come to me, eventually!! :)) Nostalgic?! Yes, but there is another word on the tip of my tongue!! :)) But it won’t roll off!! :)) Era?!!
Thanks Vicki I appreciate the nostalgic bit LOL I am processing these to be a bit like fifties or a bit earlier film so am at least partially successful.
