This photo was taken during 1988 at an Aboriginal protest at the Old Swan Brewery site in Perth W.A . I dont know this girls name but she was a bundle of energy and looked after and directed the other kids.
This is one of the images I am most proud of and have done many different versions of it.
That’s a very nice shot, candid and honest. I like the confident expression on her face… goes so well with that logo on her t-shirt. I’ve been in Australia only once and found photographing Aboriginal people quite difficult, since they seemed very uncomfortable in front of the camera. But this one is great!
