Four victorian bottles from my collection.
All were made for the same company Pain and Bayles of Ipswich. Later this was expanded to Ipswich and Felixstowe.
Their works/factory was located in Turret Lane, presumably this is where the idea of the trade mark came from?
These bottles date from 1898 to about 1905
The glass bottles, with marbles in the neck would have held lemonade and the stone bottles ginger beer. The marble sealed the bottle using a rubber ring that was fitted into the lip. The rubber ring is visible resting against the marble.
