The ringed plover Charadrius hiaticula also known variously as Bull’s Eye, Sea Lark, Sand Lark, Sand Tripper and Stone Runner is a resident & winter visitor in Ireland from areas further north where this population also breeds. Amber-listed as internationally important numbers winter in Ireland. Usually spotted (as photographed here) on sandy beaches or along the upper shores of estuaries.
