The lighthouse at Hook Head is said to be one of the oldest in the British Isles. Standing at the entrance to Waterford Harbour on the Wexford side, the lighthouse is at the tip of an exposed low lying spit of land thrusting out into the Irish Sea. The rocky coastline around the lighthouse is a popular walking area.
