Good choice on the cropping and color work. How do you do these eyes? You will have to write up a tutorial. Of course, it looks like it helps that she actually has very beautiful eyes.

I love this photo Andy – it’s very similar to one I did of a friend’s daughter a few months back..I might upload that next….have been a bit slack in uploading anything to Red bubble since i joined…........which seems like ages ago. ....life has been a bit hectic as it is for all of us….I’m like you, I have just completed a Professional Photography Course and then spiralled into despair (sort of) where to go from here….so many great photographers and all that, but let me tell you that having worked as an artist and now a photographer, the recipe is the same…..follow your instincts and never be put off by critisicm…sorry can’t spell tonight!. Gerijuliaj, I would love to see the photo you took. For me, this was the first photo I took that I was proud of. Being here, I can see many more to come, with all this inspiration and encouragement. I hadnt picked up the camera for months, then I found Redbubble. As for a course, I have yet to do one, would love to tho, I know I heaps to learn, and have only just begun this journey. Thanks again for your encouraging comment.

Hi Andrea, Great image mate. A warning if I may, and I know people will disapprove of criticism but… Just be careful with the amount of skin polishing you do. Yes in this you have intentionally gone that way for the angel/ almost alien look in this image. This is something I did very much (and still do occasionally) and I often find myself regretting it when I view these later.
This child is absolutely gorgeous and I’d really love to see a more natural look to her images. That’s a personal choice so please do not take this to heart – but do give it some consideration.

Apologies. I know this site is more about pats on the back and glowing congratulations but sometimes I prefer useful criticism. I hope you do too. It helps us grow :-)

Hey Graham. Thank you for taking the time out, and I am always open for critique, still learning and class myself as very much a beginner, and it all helps.

The skin polishing is a little fetish I have at the moment. I wasnt happy with the original edit on this image, and Neat image seemed to help with the small blown out parts in it, but at a cost.

At the moment I am just seeing how far I can push an image in ps, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, but I love to see what I can come up with and make it my own. Portraits are probably not a good subject to push tho, lol.

Thanks again for your time, and it gives me something to think about, and no apology needed, I really do appreciate this kind of feedback.

Superb image. A wonderful use of selective coloring to emphasize the eye and use it as a central focal point. The b/w tonality and exposure is spot on. A well captured and presented image. A favorite for me.

Me again Andrea :) My most recent post was compared to yours (in positive terms) so I thought I’d better come back for another look. Then I remembered this being the one that I critiqued…LOL so it appears that I still love the style that you have used here :) Well I did say I was guilty of the same processing style on occasion.
