From the trip to Leura cascades and Bridal Veil Falls in the BLue Mountains, NSW. This small creek has become a roaring river, the size of it and flow was incredible! It was the first time we drove to the shoot in the rain, normally we would have cancelled, but yesterday we were really determined, even though we had to use umbrellas all the time. You can read a full account of this really wet trip by Peter Hill here

Better viewed large, thank you for looking!

    Beautiful capture

  • Thank you Adrian. Took only one shot from this angle, because the next minute Peter walked onto the bridge to take this magnificent image

Ahhh, so, Tatiana….Peter gave you the 21mm eh? Lucky girl, and it seems like you use it better than he did!! This is a lovely shot, it looks like it must be a beautiful place!

  • You funny Dave! I almost added to the description – …Umbrella, raincoat and soaking wet feet ! But hey, it’s your territory, LOL! ;-)

A lovely image, superbly timed and beautifully composed, Tatiana!!

  • Thank you Phil, it was marvellous to see all that water, because until the last weekend it hardly rained in Sydney for weeks! But catching up now :-)

This is a really good perspective showing just how much water was pouring down the cascades before exploding over Bridal Veil around the corner. I recall that “bump” at the top right of the cascades at the far right foreground, where the cascade is normally limited to, had become a geyser of about a metre in height by the time we got back up here a few hours later, caused by the force of the water hitting the rock at that spot. (But by then we were rather keen on getting out of the rain!).

And yes, you DID do pretty good with my 21mm even though I thought was giving you the 16-35!

  • That’s right, and this is how much water there normally is at that "bump

    Bugger!

    Edit:

I recall that “bump” at the top right of the cascades at the far LEFT foreground

Looks and sounds like it was a fabulous expedition – even if you did get a tad soggy!! Do you have to hold your umbrella or do you have a holder on your tripod for it?
Your image is a beauty, Tanya…really gives a sense of the falls. Beautiful exposure!

  • Thank you Wendy, no, don’t have that holder, I didn’t even know they existed – was actually contemplating to having something like that at the end of the three hours :-)

This is the best position for the true beauty of the cascades. I did one very similar to this a fair time ago when four days of rain was passing through there. The area really comes alive with a huge amount of rainwater doesn’t it. Nicely timed shutter Tat, well done

  • Yes, it certainly does – we haven’t seen that much water ever! I know you do :-)
