It’s been a while since I posted anything, and apologies for not being around much and not commenting much. Sometime you just get through a phase where you feel that you loose your touch. You feel that you repeat yourself and the others, and that everything was already done before and better. I know that you need just get over that feeling and keep going.

Anyway, I decided to post this photo. A bit of luck really with the light here. Taken yesterday morning, and totally unplanned shoot. It’s interesting how many time you would plan the dawn shoot, choose the location, check all the gear, sun rise and tide times, and then arrive there only to find a totally cloudless sky, or the whole beach crowded with a local camera club.

The previous night I set the alarm clock to 5am thinking that if I am awake, I’ll get up and go somewhere (see, I was given a lens to try out). I was very tired from the working week and really surprised myself waking up 20 minutes before the alarm, alert, awake and ready to action. Checked the sky – Wow, Clouds!! Got the gear, got in a car, and just took off towards the Northern beaches (about 30 min drive at night). As I was half way, I could see the sky turning red and I kept thinking that I probably will be late by the time I finally arrive. And also trying to decide to which beach I should head – there are so many of them one after another. Couldn’t think of any other than Avalon, but that particular location is not easily accessible at high tide, that I know was approaching. So when I turned off I didn’t know the beach I was near but I saw the rockpool, and sky was setting on a fantastic display! No time to think really. Only when checking though my bag (unprepared, so embarrassing) I couldn’t find the Black Glass! Shock Horror! Fortunately had Lee Filters, which I had to hold manually, since this lens diameter is 82mm and my holders are for the 77mm

Thank you for looking, and listening, please view large!

Magic Tatiana, I love it when a half-ready, too late, almost clumsy afterthought falls together and ends up in something like this. True testimony to the talent, and the time put in. As they say F/8 and be there – or in this case F/14.
    Well done.

  • Thanks Garth, that was certainly the case! Will get there again to explore more of this rock pool. And thanks for the Fav! You certainly are blessed to live where you are and great sunrises and sunsets are more a norm for you! Cheers :-)))

great shot. I know how you feel sometimes! I always seem to get crappy light at sunrise and then you get that one great one and it all seems worth it!

  • Thank you Alistair! Yes, one shot can make all the difference! I had been on few shoots for the last few weeks, but nothing really stood out…
