This is another image shot with Hoya NDX400 filter. I am finally getting a hold on that filter. I bought it back in December last year but didn’t get to use it until recently I read an article about what you can do with it. Since it allows to stop down the shutter speed 10 stop on non-digital cameras, it is 20 or more stop on a digital. At least what I understand about it.

This picture was taken 2 days ago at Long Reef beach, Sydney, Northern Beaches area. I didn’t have time to wait until sunset, but clouds were great and fast moving, and I think I was able to capture that movement.
Thank you for looking!

wow love the movement of the clouds contrasting with the perfect stillness on the beach.. brilliiantly captured and great effect!

  • Thanks Maggi, yes, this is the exact effect that this filter produces – it smoothes the water (it was quite rough that evening) and captures moving clouds. They were moving quite fast and most were gone in 15 minutes. Btw, are you doing features this weekend?

Great use of the ND, fun aren’t they??
Best time of the day, too………..try early, EARLY mornings……!!
    Well done, Tatiana!!

  • Thank you David, yes, early mornings! Know all about them, done quite a few, been to Blue Mountains with 5 am starts… Dee Why beach though is near my work, and in 50 min drive, so I don’t really like an idea of getting to work that early…LOL But it is on my list!
