I was genuinely surprised today to read how tough life was becoming for photographers. Restrictions everywhere. And not just buildings. National parks, beaches, and even the big rock. Tomorrow. Sunday August 29th there is a protest rally at Circular Quay in Sydney, 10am til 12 noon. If you are a photographer then this concerns you. More info
It’s been that way for a long time re national parks David. I became aware of it just before I first joined Redbubble, took a photo of flowering grass trees and Park Ranger, bemused, mentioned it. I was so surprised. He was just letting me know, not laying down the law!! But national parks belong to everyone, don’t they? What aren’t we allowed to take photos in NPs? Because they want any money we may earn from the photos!!!
Honestly Anne, it’s ridiculous. We own the NP’s. Our taxes maintain them so this is just another indirect tax. It’s all getting very silly.Trouble is every man and his dog has a camera ‘capable’ of taking good pics and uploading them. Meanwhile most of the upload image companies make it easy to print them on products.
Wow! Didn’t know that was happening. The only time I have encountered something like that is at our local art museum, where I saw a policeman chase off someone taking a photo of a sculpture. The sculpture is outside along the sidewalk, where anyone can see it! Outrageous!
Me neither, Eric. Was having a bit of a read around and I have to say I was dismayed to read of (male) photographers being assaulted, harassed, and having camera’s smashed. The crime.Taking pictures of children at play in playgrounds. What a frightening paranoid media lead society we’re evolving to. Yep. Every man’s a pheodophilic, wife bashing, whore. No wonder it’s so difficult to get male teachers into schools. And aren’t we paying for that now.
