This was the number one animal I wanted to see and photograph on my trip to Borneo. Shortly after arriving at the resort we went on a “check dive” straight out from the dive centre. I didn’t have time to get the camera read and so went without it. I found a flamboyant cuttlefish in the first few minutes of the dive. I watched it intently for around 5 minutes as it ambled purposely across the sand. It was a thrill to see one in person but I was worried I may not see another when I had my camera.
We did a night dive a few hours later at the same site. I didn’t see one. The next morning we did a dive just north-west of this site and the one above was spotted and I took a number of photographs. I did not see another one for the whole trip.
