I’ve had an interest in photography and nature my whole life. My dad was an avid photographer and I think I must have caught the bug from him.
My very first “real” camera was a Nikonos III, which I bought in 1980, mainly for underwater use. It was a very robust land camera, too. Since then I have had a number of different SLR cameras (mostly Nikon) and finally moved to digital SLR in 2005.
My interest in nature and the sea led me to study marine biology between 1978 and 1981. I graduated with honours but was unable to find a job in the field. Things were way different back in the early ‘80s and there were very few jobs in the field. In 1982, I got a job in the IT industry and I’m still in that industry. It provides money for photography equipment and dive trips.
I learned to dive in 1978 and still dive as often as I can, taking my camera with me. I also try to do a tropical dive trip at least once per year. I have a web site dedicated to my diving where I log all my dives, with photographs: ATJ’s Diving Site
Most of my photography is of natural subjects, both above and below the water. I also have a dedicated photography site: andrewtrevor-jones.com
I hope you enjoy my photographs.
