The Bogey Hole has been built into the rock platform below King Edward Park and the stairs down to the pool have been carved out of the rock face. The reflection of the stairs in the surface of the pool really caught my eye.
Shot with a Nikon D300 using the 18-70mm lens at f18 and a 20second exposure. the light had faded quite a bit as this image was taken about 20 minutes after sunset.

    Is this at Newcastle?

We were at King Edward Park, today. None of my photos look this good! :)

  • It is, when your driving throught he park there is a bend with a car park and a set of stairs going down. follow the stairs to the old raod and then take the next set of steps you see here to the Bogey Hole.
I went at Sunset as I wanted a more even light to get the sky and the rocks and pool. Sunrise I find can be a bit harsh for that.
I am thinking about arranging another group meet and this time take in the Bogey hole and other interesting areas of Newcastle
    Thanks for the comment.

This is the best photo of I seen of the Bogey Hole Andrew … well done. I read today that its all off bounds at present while they do some work in the area to restore the cliffs around there. Hopefully they won’t take away its rustic beauty♥

  • I think that the saftey police have a mandate that says that they MUST remove the rustic beauty. Having said that the moss there is leathal as I slipped several times and almost landed on my A….

A fabulous spot – and a beautiful shot. Clarity of the water in the pool is awesome.

Did you see the plan for the new steps and ramp in teh paper last week – I was hoping they’d come up wiht something a lot more asthetically in line with what’s already there.
