This is the updraught for a storm that passed overhead on Sunday 15th March. The storm was VERY active and impressive to watch and seemed to come out of nowhere. This cloumn of cloud was visually bubbling and rotating as it moved away. This is one image of a 65 image set, 1 image every 10 seconds to show the clouds development and movement. From my location at the lookout above Killcare beach on the central coast I could watch 3 other storms develope during the course of about an hour. One further north and 2 south toward Sydney. They were amazing to watch. This storm was dramatic and the updraught was unlike any I had seen before. This photo was taken with the Nikon D300 using the 18-70mm lens

Very stunning, like it’s smoke rising.
    Leanne.

  • It was Leanne. I have rarely seen a column so defined and active as this one.

I agree with the other comments. Amazing. Very dramatic. Nice job on the capture.

  • Thank you Steve. I had to slightly underexpose it in RAW to get a little more detail as it washed out slightly, but the result shows the power a good storm has.

    For everyone
Its a shame I cannot put on a video as to watch the 65 images cycling thru at 3 images a shows the way the cloud built and rotated. Actually it was also quite scarey to know I was that close at one point to this beast.
I may load it on youtube.
