That is some serious kit there Andrew…is that you on the left?

  • Andrew Murrell replied 23 days ago

I was the one holding the camera. The man on the left is Gary Kopff and he is the inventor of the Argo Navis, the telescope computer than runs many of todays ameteure telescopes. The other man is a friend and a member of 3RF Australia John Bambury and his sone Jake. 3RF owns the 18” and the 25” whick I caretake for the group. The scope in the middle is Hector and is my scope and world famous (not really but many astronomers around the world know him)

Oh! wow Andrew – this is impressive. One of my brothers was always into amateur astronomy and built his own telesope right from grinding the lens up! Do you operate these from home or take them up to Bucketty or similar?♥

  • Andrew Murrell replied 22 days ago

Actually I do go to Bucketty, I have a friend who owns a property there. The middle scope is due to be installed there semi permanetly soon. The other scopes are a bit like the Leyland Bros. Travel all over the country side. Mostly to Coonabarabran.
