great work mate topshelf! im assuming youve used a pano head on your tripod? i dont have one but youve made up my mind…. gotta get one

  • Andrew Murrell replied

Hello, I use the Manfroto 190pro tripod with a pistol grip ball head. One of the best accessories I have purchased, up there with the 70-200 f2.8 VR niokon lens. A good tripod is essential.

    Sheila Smith

Love the light and sence of space.

  • Andrew Murrell replied

Thanks Sheila, It was the light play and the sence of space that gave me the name of the image. The right side of the image is bright and clear, the left side is darker and filled with decay. The rising light is banishing the dark and dreary.

I’m a one shot man, as you know Andrew so I could not possibly come up with something as good as this! BUT if you could tell me where the scene is I may have a futile attempt .

  • Andrew Murrell replied

Bob You can do it if you put your mind to it I am sure…
This is Sheathers Wharf on Brisbane water drive just north of Woy Woy. The wharf is private and has recently had a change of owner. the new owner has raised a gate at the start and placed a Huge ugly sign for Oysters. what was one of my favourite places for a dramatic sunrise is now gone. I an trying to find another place as good. I will let you know how I go.

  • Andrew Murrell replied

Thanks for adding this one to your favourites Bob

This is gorgeous! There’s a whole shift in the character of the image from left to right, going towards the rising sun.

  • Andrew Murrell replied

Exactly The light of teh rising sun is banishing the drab and ugly (at least how it loos to me) Thank you for getting the image.

  • smallfox

    smallfox

I wouldn’t call the dark side ugly – on the contrary! I find it also beautiful, but just a different quality, like sleep and waking.
