My Bubblesite is Here
I have been interested in photography from High School in the early 1980’s. My first Camera was a hand down Pentax from my sister who had studied Commercial art Photography at Tech as it was called then. After a few years I purchased my first camera that was truly mine a Nikon EM and I have stayed with Nikon ever since.
I’m not nice, I have killed cameras by dropping them off cliffs (Grand Canyon 2000 Nikon FM2) or dropping in water (Brisbane Water 1993 Nikon EM)
Broken Lens by hitting rock walls, (Grand Canyon 2007, Tamron 28-200)
Lost Lens’s (Coonabarabran 1995, 28MM f2.8), (Sedona 2000, 35mm f2.8), (Port Macquarie 2008, 18-70mm f3.5). But through it all I still have a passion for Photography.
Things really began to take off once I purchased my first Digital SLR, a Nikon D70. This was a Fantastic camera after having used my F75 for about 3 years (replacement for my damaged FM2). The ability to take plenty of images to help tone my skills really helped. In 2008 I purchased my D300 and I must admit I am in AWE of this camera.
I mainly shoot landscape images with a little bit of Still Life. When I was shooting Film I mainly used Prime Lens’s as I wasn’t happy with most Zooms. The Nikon D70 came with an 18-70mm f3.5 (original lost) which helped me change my mind about this type of lens. I quickly purchased a 70-300MM f4 Nikon, then an 11-18 f4.5 Tamron.
With the D300 I Purchased a Nikon 70-200 f2.8VR lens, and upgraded to the 11-16mm f2.8 Tokina from the Tamron.
I have recently started to get a series of Prime Lens again starting with the Nikon 50 f1.4D, a Nikon 28mm f2.8 and most recently a Nikon 85mm f1.8.
I would like to start to learn to take better Portrait photos as I keep being asked to shoot weddings. ( I always volunteer as back up only)
I prefer to try and emulate the real world in my images as much as possible. To that end I am not a big user of Photoshop or HDR although some of my more popular images have an element of both.
Certain subject will be found in portfolio, Storms and Storm Clouds, Astronomy, Waterfalls and Beach Scenes. I love the hours around sunset and will stay usually till all the light has gone. Some of my favourite images have been taken after other photographers have left or were packing up.
I hope you like my images
