One of my new years resolutions is to broaden the scope of my photography and move a way a bit from landscapes and do more abstract stuff amongst other things, so here’s a start…

I really liked the way the trees surrounding this small lake were throwing their long shadows across the frozen surface. And for once I had my camera with me!

A very interesting piece you have given us here Andrew. I like the lines and how they variy from the size of the trees. Well done!

  • Thank you Selina, I’d like to do more like this but this type of shot doesn’t seem to come naturally to me! Btw can you spot the fox tracks? :)

Fantastic abstract! If you hadn’t written a description I probably wouldn’t have guessed what it was :o)

  • Thanks Karen, I was drawn to this as soon as I saw through the view finder, hopefully I can get a few more before it thaws :)

Great work – I love shadows. I can get back to them now that the snow has gone…

  • Thanks Rose! What do you mean gone?… It’s coming down thick and fast just here at the moment, lol :)

You will get loads more great shots like this if you keep a camera with you Andrew….lol. Some of the little pocket jobs take very good images these days, some even with Leica lenses.
    Another lovey shot!

  • Thank you! I always used to keep a compact in my pocket before I moved to a SLR. Now I only take it (the SLR) to work when I can get away with giving myself a bit of free time. Maybe I should go back to the compact… :)

Really well seen and presented !!

  • Thanks JK, I too often just look at the bigger scene and overlook shots like this. It’s a bad habit I’m trying to get out of, lol :)

Some of the compacts have Leica lenses so it is not a case of going back. Keep your dSLR but always keep a compact in your pocket too for those previously lost opportunities…..lol.
I can talk, I only have a compact, and it still doesn’t come everywhere with me. Perhaps when I can afford one with a Leica lens it might….lol.
I love your work Andrew. I don’t always comment but it is always like a breath of air when you share something new.

  • I must admit I do keep looking at compacts and a new one would be very nice, but it’s not a priority right now, lol… plus it would mean dipping into my ‘new lens fund’ lol :)

In that case get bigger pockets so you take your dSLR with you everywhere.
We will all be disappointed if you don’t keep giving us our daily fix…….lol.
