The day starts early in Africa. But then this is no ordinary morning; the plan is to catch an African sunrise from Intaba Inkosi; ‘The Mountain of the King’; so called because the lions have sometimes been seen here gazing across the plains as another African day begins. Thomas, the tracker, is busy making coffee. I’m busy with my camera; it’s still twenty minutes before sunrise but there’s a gap in the cloud and a chard of light is going vertical. I’m being treated to some raw nature. The sky is literally dripping with blood. Oh yes. This is Africa.
