Yesterday I bought a pair of converse and when I got home I decided to get some photos of them.

I am a little obsessive so I took the laces out and then re-threaded them so they were straight and equal and then I tied them just to neaten it up.
The Setup: With main light on so you can see.

The shoes are on my trusty piece of A3 paper (starting to become more grey than white lol)
I also put one of my rocks in the foreground resting on the corner of the paper.
The backdrop, from where I was positioned, was my bedroom door so I wanted to change that. So, me being the awkward bugger I am, I got my computer chair and took my sheet off my bed and then with the use of some masking tape I secured the sheet to the walls. The reason I got my computer chair is because I knew the weight of the bed sheet would be too much for the masking tape to handle so I rested the bulk of the sheet on the chair.
I turned off my bedroom light and used my torch to get a direct front light.

I couldn’t figure out a way to get the converse logo to float so I just had to add it in with Photoshop :P
Good ol’ English humour there.

I’m a simple guy with a complicated mind. Even I have trouble figuring out what is going on inside.
Photography lets me express myself in ways that I love. It allows me to be creative and experiment. I might not be the best but I sure do love when I see my photography working.

I appreciate your info. here Andrew, and you’re proof that ghetto-rigging (as I like to call it) can have a positive outcome! I think you pulled it off wonderfully. (I’m the queen of ghetto-rigging, by the way. ;)

Nicely composed and great choice of edit. It is obvious that you put a lot of thought into your photographs and how they will be viewed. Wonderful work!

  • Thank you very much for the great comment Jane :) As I put together each shot, I think about how I can treat it in Photoshop afterwards, so I’m glad that my thoughts come through when you see my work. Thank you again :)
