I was out last night (29.06.2011) trying to catch the sunset over this field but the sunset was at 21:42 and I got there at 21:44 so I had just missed my chance. I did see these little burrow lines every-so-often though, so I thought I’d try and get a different type of shot.
I put my camera into the burrow lines and, whilst getting attacked by numerous bugs, put the correct settings on. I took a couple shots, but this was the one that turned out best :)
I opened the image into Photoshop and instantly got rid of the reddish hue that was being caused by the recently set sun. I also toned down the vibrancy of the green quite a lot to get dulled down tones. I then used a texture with a 43% ‘subtract’ blending mode to get the scratchy lines in the sky area. I added a little bit of noise to the final image just to add to the slight rustic feel that is given by the dull tones and the texture.
