The world is divided into two types of people - or not.
“The world is divided into two types of people: those who have tattoos and those who are afraid of people with tattoos”. ~ Author Unknown
In researching ideas for a project I stumbled on the above quote. My intent was to challenge what was implied by the quote using a documentary approach to my image making. The decision to work from one studio and get to know the people there was an intentional one; however the choice of studio was pure chance. I was fortunate to stumble into Green Lotus Tattoo Studio in Brunswick.
Many visits to Green Lotus Tattoo Studio over the months followed. I quickly found the artists involved to be highly skilled and talented and the clients as interesting and as different as their chosen tattoo designs. Both artists and clients were supportive and genuinely interested in my work.
Whilst the original intent remained throughout, as the work progressed and I reviewed and assessed my images it became very much about the intensity and interaction between the artists and their clients and the final results provide an insight into this world.

Thankyou to Tashi and the rest of the artists and staff at Green Lotus Tattoo Studio (and their clients) for putting up with me hanging around all that time.

excellent work. I guess I’ll be postponing my appointment again … too much blood. I’ll make do with the stab wound from art class.

Very interesting. Doesn’t look like too many of the tattoo studios I’ve been in, looks a bit like a boutique. Nice to see artists at work.

Great collection Andrew.
I’m yet to get my first one done but this makes it looks tempting.
