question re photo locations in newcastle (nsw) by AndreJ

Posted on March 15, 2010

hi
seems lately that I’ve been doing a lot of shoots on the central coast and in the newcastle area, but I don’t know the areas very well at all
any locals know of newcastle locations like old buildings, ruins, empty warehouses, industrial grunge places – I guess there must be some ???

In newcastle if you go to Knobby’s light house there is a bunker type thing below it thats kinda old and graffitied
There is a girl on Flickr called Nammo who lives in Newcastle currently (I used to now in London UK) she will definitely know of some good locations

Thanks a lot for that. . . I thought there must be spots like that . . . the coast around Sydney has many of them so I thought Newcastle would . . . I’ll check it out

Hi Andre, when I was at Newcastle Uni there was an old power station. It was literally massive. I don’t know if it is still there but if it is then it is the absolutely BEST photographic location. I can’t even remember where it is but the locals will know. And of course if it’s still there, are you allowed to get in.

  • AndreJ:

Thanks for that. I’ll make enquiries!

If you’ve got a 4×4 wheel drive, there’s Stockton beach and the old firing range but you’ll need the right transport Andy. There’s Morrisett too and something up at Fingal Bay, old Gun placements.
