Today ends the decade of my youth.
10 Years ago, I eagerly awaited the start of year 8 – the start of High School.
I did not know what an Ipod was, Facebook and myspace didnt exist.
Mobile phone? what would I need one for – none of my mates had one.
Driving a car was years away, but i spent plenty of time practising – smashing through the gears in dads car when no-one was looking.
N64 wasnt ‘uncool’ yet, but wasn’t ‘retro’ either. Nobody i knew had a blog. I didnt even have an email address for another year and a half! – Much less did I have MSN.
Digital Cameras? – Whats that? I think the school librarian might have had one, and it was about the size of a lunch box.
The computers at school were apple mac towers, in a lovely shade of cream. Floppy discs were king, and it took me many more years before i even owned a CD that had been burnt.
Our tv was huge – both sideways AND deep, and yes – it was only analogue (GASP!)
Y2k was yet to hit, and I spent the night in goolwa spray painting the road to bring the new year in.
Today ends the decade of my youth – and begins the decade of my ‘young adult / middle age’ years. No babies on the horizon.
