Christmas time was spent with our beautiful daughter… We managed to pick 16kg of fresh cherries in Roxburgh a stunningly beautiful fruit growing hub and recreational paradise in central Otago. In the 1860s, gold miners ventured into the area and large dredging operations were soon in progress along the Clutha River. Roxburgh’s thriving fruit industry began in 1866 and now orchards welcome you to pick fruit straight from the tree or to purchase from roadside stalls.
Cherry picking over the Christmas break has become a wonderful tradition for us…. Cherries only come around once a year so we make the most of it. I took the opportunity to photograph our beautifuld daughter with a day old chick in the orchards… “Dedicated to Daughters”…Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 Dec 2012… Roxburgh Central Otago New Zealand
