Its been a busy day… 8 litters of nectar, 7 apples, 2 fat feeders, heaps of grain and wild bird seed and some bread. The day began as normal, but by mid morning the ground was covered in snow. The four bird feeding stations were overflowing in birds, each little fluff ball fighting for a place to eat. As the day grew colder and the snow got heavier, more and more birds arrived. As I filled the feeders they almost consumed it as fast as I was putting it out… I am just happy that some of the birds in Southland had food today… I am sure there are many that will perish in the cold and the snow. It is tough enough to find food in winter let alone when it is snowing… Panasonc Lumix DMC-FZ35 Southland New Zealand June 2012
She’s Sitting In An Apple!!
This little silver-eye was sitting in the apple, I guess it is a clever move to keep the snow out of the apple.
