Close The Door!! I Don't Enjoy Sunlight.. Possum -NZ by

Please view large..The common brushtail possum was introduced to New Zealand by European settlers in an attempt to establish a fur industry. Its numbers in New Zealand have risen to the point where it is considered a pest. There are no native predators of the possum in New Zealand. There have been numerous attempts to eradicate them, because of the damage they do to native trees and wildlife, as well as acting as a carrier of bovine tuberculosis. For New Zealand, the ecologically disastrous effects of the introduction of possums can be described as similar to that of the introduction of rabbits and cane toads in Australia.

This Possum was rescued and raised by Bonnie, she rescues and rehabilitates animals into the wild. From Horatio the Harrier Hawk to owls, ducks, geese, and possums… Even though these creatures are considered a pest… Bonnie found it in her heart to rescue him and take care of him, he is now considered a pet. The possum was not impressed being disturbed in full sun for a quick photo… Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 Southland New Zealand June 2012

My fascination with birds began as a child and almost 50 years down the track my love for our feathered friends has not diminished. Once we moved to Tranquillity (our little country retreat) my passion for birds, all nature and wildlife became a digital reality through the lens of my camera.
