Farmers were prepared for this week’s wintry blast and livestock was not affected. While there were pockets of lambing under way full-scale lambing only begins in a few weeks. The cold snap would did have the impact of last year’s storm in the South which occurred a month later and was “right in the middle” of lambing. It was a “great” autumn, stock is in very good condition and farmers had plenty of supplements. I took a walk around our little rural village when the snow subsided, and my heart went out to these little cotton balls and I could not help but feel so sorry for the little new born lambs that have come early…I am sure that they were not expecting to arrive in a snow storm…
