The Big Apple - Silvereye - NZ by

I decided to play around with the little Silver-eye images, added a background layer and words just for fun. While I do prefer uploading natural photography it was fun creating this image and I was pleased with the effect. Your feedback is always welcome, this is a whole new world for me…

Although the history of the Big Apple was once thought a mystery, research over the past two decades, primarily by amateur etymologist Barry Popik and Gerald Cohen of Missouri University of Science and Technology, has provided a reasonably clear picture of the term’s history. Previously, there were a number of false etymologies, of which the most ridiculous was the claim that the term derived from a New York brothel whose madam was known as Eve. This was subsequently exposed as a hoax.

My fascination with birds began as a child and almost 50 years down the track my love for our feathered friends has not diminished. Once we moved to Tranquillity (our little country retreat) my passion for birds, all nature and wildlife became a digital reality through the lens of my camera.

There’s also the definitive funny (& perhaps somewhat accurate) quip which ends ‘Rotten to the Core….’ Of course that originally came from an early children’s program on TV, Tom Terrific (& his wonderdog Mighty Manfred) & was applied to a nefarious character by the name of Crabby Appleton. But I ramble… this is just great, Andrea; the treatment brings out the best in this ever-adorable critter & his Big Lunch.

  • It sure is a bing lunch for such a little fellow. Thank you for your lovely kind comment, very much appreciated.
