Are you QUESTIONING ME! - Silvereye - Wax Eye - New Zealand by

I am back with another capture of these adorable birds.
Silvereye, Wax Eye – Slightly smaller than the introduced house sparrow, the silvereye is olive-green above, pale chestnut below, and there is the characteristic, almost complete, ring of white feathers around the eye. Males are slightly brighter in plumage than females.

My fascination with birds began as a child and almost 50 years down the track my love for our feathered friends has not diminished. Once we moved to Tranquillity (our little country retreat) my passion for birds, all nature and wildlife became a digital reality through the lens of my camera.

Black & white eyes -amazing! Another super-sharp one, Andrea. One big advantage of Lumix cameras is those exquisite Leica lenses.

  • Thank you for your great comment, much appreciated. I am really happy with the camera, it does have a great lens.

Great Capture Andrea :o) are these guys native to NZ?

  • Thank you Karina, this particular one is I think, there are also wax eyes, and white eyes found in Australia and South Africa. They could also be in other parts of the world, not sure.
