Don't even think about it! Silvereye - Wax Eye - New Zealand by

Silvereye – New Zealand possesses one species which is a relatively recent arrival in this country from Australia. Permanent invasion occurred in or before 1856, the birds obviously being carried in flocks across the Tasman Sea by one or more of the weather systems. By 1861 the species had established a permanent footing in the Chatham Islands. Now it has a wide distribution throughout the country.
Location Taken: Gore, Southland, New Zealand.

My fascination with birds began as a child and almost 50 years down the track my love for our feathered friends has not diminished. Once we moved to Tranquillity (our little country retreat) my passion for birds, all nature and wildlife became a digital reality through the lens of my camera.

GREAT, I’m off tomorrow to the great matropolis of Kerikeri to look for that fat roll bird feeder.

  • You can do it Roy. The little wax eyes in our garden feed off my lap first thing in the morning if I sit very still. I am out there rain or shine. You only realize how delicate and tiny they are till they clamber all over you. I look forward to seeing your photos.
