Thank You for All Your Prayers, Thoughts And Kindness

Thank you all for all your prayers, thoughts, kind words and healing wishes. I am sure the success of Keith’s operation was assisted by each and ever one of you.

Keith’s Surgery went very well, when we met with the surgeon on the big day he confessed to not looking forwards to the task. However he was very pleased with the outcome and feels confident that Keith will be a new man after the 4 – 6 week healing process.

We are pleased to be back home and each day his discomfort is less and less.

I am looking forward to slowly getting back on to RB in the next few weeks, it is amazing how much I miss all your wonderful and beautiful work.

Thank you once again for your support, you are such a wonderful group of friends.

Please Say A Prayer For My Wonderful Hubby.. Keith

My apologies for the brief visits on RB, for the lack of comments and congrats on your work… Life has been a little up and down. My hubby Keith has has a few health issues this year that have gradually got worse…

His sudden weight loss caused us great concern, it may not be related to his present condition, we will only find out once this procedure is complete.

Keith finally went to see a specialist in Christchurch last week. The outcome is urgent surgery which is scheduled for the 5th of December… (A Rectal pro lapse operation, combined with a large-scale haemorrhoidectomy) A 90 minute operation, which may very well be the longest 90 minutes I endure in the waiting room. Hospitals are not one of my favourite place…

Keith and I have GST looming, so loads of bookwork, not my most favourite of tasks, but something that has to be done… My garden needs attention now that spring is here, with warmer weather and longer evenings I am hoping to get out there and get the job done so that I can get back to commenting on your works and loading new works.

Thank you all for your support, and all your lovely comments and compliments to my work, I appreciate the time you take. And Many thanks to all the hosts who have honoured m…

Our little Silver-eye who has been named “Grumpy” is spending a little more time in Germany…in a little town called Trixiville…unlike New Zealand they have been under attack from heat waves…

Trixi has no air conditioning and when a drop of sweat landed on the precious art work (pastel drawing) she just about fainted…. this has caused our silver-eye to become very grumpy…hence the name…She yelled out… “Us little old Germans are just not made for this kind of heat!!!!” Trixi waved the white flag and surrendered to a cool shower and her couch!!

I am very excited to exhibit in SoJie 12. SoJie 12 takes its name from the first letters of Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. This month is only the 12th one, ever, and 120 other members of the Solo Exhibition group, besides myself, are represented.

This exhibition is based on a workshop, in which I participated, where member artists translated member photographers’ images to traditional art medium.

Winners of the invitational will be announced on August 31st, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in three categories: digital art, photography, and traditional art.

How can we share these with the world!!!!

Like many people I have always loved the art of photography but never had the time to become more actively involved. 18 months ago we moved to Tranquillity (the name we gave to our little country retreat) I was finally able to make a wish come true and the digital world became a reality and a growing passion.

Eleven Months ago I remember saying to my hubby Keith shortly after getting our camera “How can we share these with the world?” when a friend referred me to Red Bubble and a new journey in our lives began. We were able to share our images with the world.

A special thanks to my wonderful hubby Keith, without his amazing organizational skills, people skills, an eye for detail and endless talents the exhibit at the Rural Womens Club NZ would not have been a success.

The exhibit was an …

Christchurch In A Turmoil After Another Earthquake! June 2011

Should I leave Christchurch?

This is “the question” swirling around inside the heads of many Christchurch people this morning as they switch off their snooze alarms and assess the damage.

Christchurch Mayor, Bob Parker is saying “There is a future here, there is great economy and a great way of life.”

The BBC’s Nick Bryant says the city’s quake-weary residents are at their wit’s end, and dozens more families have decided to leave for good.

So what should you do? … Here are a couple of suggestions:
1. Look before you leap

If you must go, then take a moment to stop and decide “why” and “where” you are going, before hastily packing a lunch bag and leaving. Life works best if you run towards a goal or a dream, rather than running away from a nightmare.

There are times when simply “running away…

A Sad Day At "Tranquillity"

McFly Passed Away Today…
She arrived at Tranquillity in a small cardboard carton just after Easter in 2010, fresh from the poultry farm as a pullet and quickly captivated our hearts, along with her two sisters.

I spent hours nurturing them, protecting them, feeding them, teaching them and eventually letting them roam free on our section, to explore, dig, cluck and scurry. Something we discovered was very new for them as they had come from a poultry farm and had never seen grass, sand, rain or snow.

Becky (aged 3) and Josh (aged 10) came to stay not long after the chickens arrived and we asked the two children if they would like to name the new hens.

Becky decided to call her assigned chicken “One” and Josh (having just watched “Back to the future” on DVD with Keith), called his chick…

I got the opportunity to hitch a ride to Christchurch for a week. I spent some wonderful quality time with our daughter. We visited the Orana Wild Life Park in Christchurch and it was wonderful to see some of the familiar animals that I remember all so well when I lived in Christchurch.
Orana Wildlife Park is operated by Orana Wildlife Trust. Set on 80 hectares of park-like grounds, Orana Wildlife Park is New Zealand ’s only open range zoo. The Park has been developed as an open range sanctuary for endangered animals, providing them with enclosures as close to their natural habitat as possible. Streams, moats and banks are used as barriers to allow visitors the opportunity to see the animals in a natural manner. Over 400 animals from 70 different species are displayed.

An Enormous Project - Southland Birds

I joined Red Bubble (RB) six months after moving to rural Southland from Christchurch, New Zealand. I used to work a 9 hour day, 5 days a week starting with the rude awakening of the alarm clock at 5.30 am. Juggling work, two children, a bird and a wonderful husband whilst trying to keep up with the mundane tasks of household chores did not leave much time for all the things I really wanted to do in life. It is funny how things work out, both children decided to leave home at the same time to begin their life’s journey, so it was the perfect opportunity to semi retire and move to the country, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

My fascination with birds began as a child and almost 50 years down the track my love for our beautiful feathered friends has not diminished (I smile when…

Hi All

I will be away from RB for a few days, Keith is a celebrant at another beautiful young couples wedding.

Bubble System Problems - Frustrating

Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my work, and please accept my apologies for the lack of response.

We have been experiencing bubble connection problems over the last few days, I have not been able to comment on your wonderful new works, features or respond to comments.

The bubble system appears to be spasmodic, with some functions working for a few minutes then vanishing again. They are either working on the system or New Zealand is experiencing connection problems. I am not sure which.

I will respond and comment as soon as they system sorts it self out again, in the meant time keep your wonderful works flowing and I will catch up when I can.

EARTHQUAKE UPDATE!

Both Keith and I were sitting at our desks 500km away from Christchurch when our chairs began shaking. Keith called out Earthquake. The shake lasted about 45 seconds and my immediate thought was Christchurch. Not long after that we got News that Christchurch had indeed had a massive quake, 6.3. I knew that it would be massive if we felt it 500km away.

Our first thoughts were for our Children’s safety and our friends. I dialed our daughter who works at the AMI stadium as a chef and could not get through. I tried our son who works for Leopard coach lines and could not get through. I have to admit that I had an awful sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. I tried calling their work mates & friends to no avail. I felt so helpless, it is the not knowing that really plays on your min…

Christchurch Hit By Major Earth Quake Just After Lunch Today

Christchurch has been hit by a major Earth Quake again, just after lunch today.

Strong aftershocks are continuing to shake Christchurch as police confirm “multiple fatalities” after a 6.3 magnitude quake hit the city this afternoon.
Police said fatalities had been reported at several locations and that two buses had been crushed by falling buildings. The cathedral has collapsed, a major icon in Christchurch. People are trapped under rubble in various other buildings.

I have finally manged to communicate with our children after two hours of dialing and thank goodness they are both OK!

Our prayers go out to all the families and loved ones who are in terrible shock, and especially for those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy.

I will be away from Bubble for a short while!

We are hitting the road and heading to Christchurch, a place I have not seen for over a year now.

Keith is a marriage Celebrant and he will be uniting a young couple in marriage on the 11th of Feb. I will be taking the video of this very special time in their lives and of course loads of photographs.

We have decided to stay on for a few days longer to spend some time with our kids who both live in Christchurch.

Christchurch is going to look very different to me as I have not seen the damage and devastation the Earthquakes have caused. When we moved south a year ago the city was intact. I believe they have had 4568 quakes to date and they are still having them frequently. The latest was Feb 4 2011 9:32 am Magnitude: 2.9 Depth: 5 km.

I look forward to catching up with you all again in two…

Thank you once again Kathy I am honored.
