Antarctic explorer, and courageous expedition leader, Ernest Shackleton, best known for his epic journey in 1914, on the ill fated ship ‘Endurance’ , of which became trapped in pack ice in the Weddell Sea. This remarkable story of courage and survival saw Shackleton and his crew endure an epic voyage across the unforgiving seas and ice crevasses of the antarctic until they eventually reached safety crossing the island of Sth. Georgia . Shackleton vowed not to lose one man on a voyage, and this promise he lived up to.
I admire his courage and determination, so comes this drawing.

i can imagine how he felt,in a very minor way years ago when i was a mountian climber, i climbed a mt, in jan,one year , it was minis-40f degrees, the breath froze on my beard as i was climbing all one night and day, it took a couple of days and nights to reach the top, the wind was 50-60 miles an hour gusts,,so i a very small was i can apprecate his valor,i also snow shoed every winter tooi was from new england where winters can be miserable-and long

  • He was a rare one for sure. Me , I prefer the warmth of my lounge room heater than a damp, icey, frost covered cabin below decks. :-)

I like this look.Fantastic work.Great story with it. He does look astute and adventurous. That’s amazing to achieve what he did. Also very handsome.

  • Yes, he was handsome Dalun, I think his inner strength made him appear so. The most famous of survival stories that ever existed, is this story about Shackleton and his crew….and one I find eternally fascinating.
