I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. As a child I spent many an hour copying comic book characters and photos from magazines and discovered I had something…..a passion that exists to this day. Curiously , I am always drawn towards the human face, and this has resulted in many hours caricaturing and having people sit for me as I draw them and try to capture the very essence of their personality. I revere the human face, and the ‘person’ for what they are, so in capturing a person’s likeness I feel I am paying them the utmost respect. I try to paint and draw from real life wherever possible as direct connection with the sitter , through the eye, to the hand and then onto the canvas results in a more spirited outcome.

My deep concern for the environment, and the well being of our planet has seen me gravitate towards abstraction and a need to simplify the image….a meditative state where less is more. While using discarded objects of a natural origin, as a platform on which to springboard my ideas off, I endeavour to depict the purity of an unspoiled environment through simple color and shape.
