You only need to go a short distance from the city center to enter the maze of narrow streets of Casimir and plunge into a different world. Once a separate town famous for the diversity of the Jewish life that thrived there for six centuries Casimir is today a vibrant district of Cracow where the past and the present mingle at every street corner.
Canon 40D . canon 70 – 200 mm f/4 L.
Here are a few highlights of this route:
The uniqueness of the area gives a perfect background to many cultures and artistic performances eg. the Jewish Culture Festival or the Soup Festival, when the streets become alive with the magical sounds of music and singing. Casimir was also a setting for Steven Spielberg’s recent Holocaust movie “Schindler’s List.”
Part of the unforgettable charm of Kazimierz’s backstreets, is due to the numerous cafés, pubs, restaurants and galleries.
