Storm front 28 January 1010
A strong storm shelf cloud approaching Terranora, NSW during the afternoon. We got not one drop from this monster, dumped it all to the west out there.

Shelf couds belong to the Arcus cloud group – low, horizontal cloud formations. Roll clouds and shelf clouds are the two types of arcus clouds. A shelf cloud is usually associated with the leading edge of thunderstorm outflow; roll clouds (such as the Gulf of Carpentaria’s ‘Morning Glory’ annual event) are usually formed by outflows of cold air from sea breezes or cold fronts in the absence of thunderstorms.

And I am honoured to have been featured in:

Tweed to Taree Photographers group on 29 April – a BIG thank you from me for featuring 3 images on one day!
In, and Around Brisbane on 19 May 2011
Live and Let Live 16 Dec 2011

And this image was a Top Ten placegetter in the “Tweed to Taree”: http://www.redbubble.com/groups/northern-beache... group’s April 2011 Weather Challenge

In the late 1970s I completed the 2 years of a 4 yr Professional Photography Cert at TAFE, but was defeated by the physics of lenses.
In 2004 I bought my first DSLR & now shoot full time with medium format digital and professional Canon DSLRs.
I provide tuition to small groups via photography workshops for small groups (max 5) and Photoshop PP classes, and conduct small group photography tours to Australian & (soon) NZ destinations.

  • Thanks Sarah, pretty awesome (in the true sense of the word) isn’t it? The power of mother nature – I love the way she pops her head up and gives us a poke in the elbow every so often.
