Daddy

Another life you have lead
Laughing as my back is turned
Was I just not good enough
Why was I not told
That tiny babe inside you grows
Whilst you lead flirtatious life
With fancy man who buys you gold
Thats quickly placed on hand
A shotgun wedding’s what it was
But does he know he’s not the dad
That baby’s just too old
So why am I the last to know
Why can I not give
A loving family and home
Deserved for blessed kid
I’ll fight to be the father
To cherish and watch ‘it’ grow
You’ll learn grabbing sugar daddy
Can’t fill ’it’s’ heart and soul
And when he’s old enough to know
How you played away from me
You watch your darling
Turn and run to stay with his
Daddy

Beautiful writing with lots of love in your heart. Excellent read!!

  • Thankyou Gail, appreciate your dropping by to read this piece, pleased you enjoyed so much! If you pick up on anything in my writing not quite right, I’m always happy to hear and have chance to adjust if I feel necessary… (although sometimes I leave things deliberately as learning curve for both myself and others…) I do hope you shall want to come by again… and look forward to seeing you soon! Kindest thoughts, Anna-Marie.

    August 31,2010 Congratulations!

  • Oh my! What a surprise this was this morning! Most humbling, thankyou for the feature in “Featured Writers” Group, much appreciated. ;D Such a shame this poem is based on the reality true to some families today… So many innocent children get hurt when caught up in parental battles… So sad… Kindest thoughts, Anna-Marie.

:))) Your welcome, it is a shame the state of the family units these days. :)

Lots of feeling and history in this. Quietly powerful words.

  • Thanks so much sweetie, so pleased you understand the feeling intended in this one, it’s so sad to think this part of our lives today…: it is good to see you here again!
