Thankful eyes.

This poem was inspired/driven through the great work done by missionaries all over, in particular of late for my new friend Trevor Irwin as seen on Redbubble.com and the great work he undertakes. His site http://www.philadelphia33.org/ is well worth that visit. Please keep him in mind as he prepares to return to Africa in October, I know your prayers would be welcome….

Look in my eyes
It’s no fault of my own;
I long for the love
and guidance of a mother;
the disciplined hand
and care of a father.
Stolen from me they were,
their loving embrace never felt.
No hugs or cuddles;
well, not from those
who would really love me.
No one to look forward to seeing
at close if day
when work is done.
No one to make sure
there is food at the table.
No luxuries like you.
Not that I’m ungrateful
to those who do see
packages of rations
sent our way.
It’s food for our tummies,
a life line through prayer,
from having faith
of looking forward to new day
of new beginnings.
This comes from generosity
of good people
who share in our fellowship
or have kindness of heart.
I am thankful
for small mercies.
Sometimes we get crayons,
I like crayons,
like colours,
I can do lots with them.
They open my mind,
in ways that I can learn;
that I might one day
be wise like you.
Wise that I might be able
to have job
and family of my own
that I too might know love.
That I can teach
my children of the love
of special people in the world.
Learn them ways to share too.
To look after themselves
and not be reliant upon
the parcels of faith
I have come to be
so thankful for.
Look in my eyes
see they are faithful,
thankful to you.
Remember me,
for you my friend
are that special one,
makes history to my own.

    beautifully well written, and so very true, and very visual, I pray for the children of all nations all the time, they are the ones who suffer the most. hugsxxx

    Of course you are right hilary, it is sad that in all innocence the children are left to suffer through no circumstance of their own making…..we should never forget them! Thanks for being supportive. ;)
