Another thankyou
This time to the Hosts and members of the group ‘EXCEPTIONAL EKPHRASIS Artwork’; for featuring my ’ history – all stitched up ’ piece which tells you about ‘THE KINGS SHILLING’, something which I read somewhere an awful long time ago and didn’t know, but which caught my eye never-the-less encouraging me to share. The EEG group, is the first here I know of to branch out in this form of art, and so I thank ths group for this as I was considering removing my stitched items from my selection of pictures shown… Indeed art can be expressed in so very many forms but it’s beauty and relevance truly lies in ‘the eye of the beholder’... My thanks again to those who pass through and of course all those who continually support my poetry and art.

Thanks Val, so pleased you like. Who would have thought when we first joined this fantastic site that so many visitors would ever pass through? Such numbers/views leave me breathless and then with such avariety of support to be gained from our personally selected groups, and this EEG group is no eexception, what a beautiful welcome this is…smiles, kindest thoughts, Anna-Marie.

BRAVO gal!
The piece is a brilliant work of art …. cos it is always hard to do even stitches
let alone create writing out of it …. with no typos lol :O)
That is the beauty of ekphrasis too!

Thankyou sweetie, sounds like you stitch a little yourself? As a tip for those who want to try this out, I plot my writing to graph paper before stitching, it takes a bit of planning to centre it right, and you may need several attempts until you are happy, but it is worth it when it comes to getting it right on the fabric. Enjoy! Smiles, Anna-Marie.

Yep have done loads of Tapestries & cross -stitches in my time!
And actually had a good collection of Christmas ornaments commemorating my children’s first Christmases (ex had kept them & ex’s new wife buried them if not chucked them – so I’ll have to stitch more!) I stitched before computers came into my life & I was forced to sit & watch TV in the evenings – I’d sew instead & no one noticed I wasn’t watching! lol – now I write and yell at anyone for having the bloody idiot box on too loud for me to think! lol
My dad did tapestries too and his were good enough to be sold for thousands! [well back when tapestries fetched money lol]
Did you know there was a massive wall tapestry in a great Hall in a castle in England that when they took it down off the wall [for cleaning] and lay it on the floor face down they realised it was actually the scene out the windows opposite and had been hung with the face against the wall for the last 400 years! The craftsmanship was THAT good that no one for 400 years knew it was the back they’d been looking at – there is a story in that I know …. must write must write ...... lol

That’s all most interesting, and actually no although I am English, it is not a story I know so thanks for sharing, maybe you might remember the name of the castle….Done a few cross stitches myself and tapestrys, many of my bigger ones left behing in another life too… like you, my love is now for writing, and learning how to use todays technology….leaves me feeling old!! lol. A shame about the ornaments, they’d have meant so much to your children, who knows maybe they will be safe for years to come? Good job memories are not taken so easily!! Smiles, Anna-Marie.
