(12/2007-1/2008) When I was walking around Edinburgh Scotland last summer, I was struck by the beautiful mixture of old and new architecture. Beside it looking very cool, I just like the idea of old and new things standing side by side… peacefully coexisting… it just seems hopeful somehow. Anyway, as I walked down the cobblestones of the Royal Mile with every other tourist, I was delighted to find mysterious alleyways that hid this secret beauty of the city. So in my painting, I included one of these mysterious alleyways that I found on my adventure. As I was painting it, a friend gave me a mix CD with a Landon Pigg song on it that had the line “I’ve seen the paths that your eyes wander down…I want to come too!” I thought that that was a poetic way to express the joy of my adventure that hopefully this painting captures as well. Everyone needs a little adventure in their lives. May all of y’all have undistracted eyes to see adventure and beauty as it’s quiet voice lights your path every single day. Cheers!
