"Our Fishin' Spot in Rockport, Texas." by

(11-12/2009) About twice a year I go fishing with my family down in a tiny little town on the Gulf of Mexico called Rockport, Texas. I am always drawn to the color and beauty of the coast and so I decided that it was high time for me to paint it. This is our favorite peer. The place where I caught a 9 lb. drum and a flounder that was bigger than my big frying pan. Anyway, as I was figuring out what to paint from our last Rockport trip, I noticed that the peer looks like a cross from this angle. And that made me think about when Jesus called his first disciples. They were just ordinary guys, peacefully fishing in their boats. Jesus told them “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” And they stopped fishing and followed him. That must of been one of their all time favorite fishing stories after that.
