I am a 2003 Studio Art graduate of the University of Texas, and I currently work as an artist and middle school art educator in Houston, Texas. Some say that my artwork is reminiscent of German Expressionist paintings, but ultimately it is inspired by my faith and my life experiences. Whether I’m walking down a hiking trial, visiting a foreign country with my church, or relaxing on my patio, I see the beauty of the natural world and try to translate it to my canvas.
My goal is to encourage viewers to see and appreciate the reality and truth in the world around them. On a daily basis, the beauty of creation is all around us, whether it is in an orange sunset or a majestic tree or an awe-inspiring mountain. It is there if you take time to see it. The more I notice, the more I am convinced that this majesty could not be an accident. My work is about celebrating this beauty and hopefully giving others the same sense of wonder that I often feel as I look and see.
Some influences also include artists such as Wayne Thiebaud, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, Tom Thomson, and Charles Burchfield.
