Beauty Is Pain

Beauty Is Pain

People are sliced and diced every day for cosmetic/plastic
surgery just because they think they are unattractive and
they aren’t what is in the magazine. Everyone feels inferior to
some one on the physical aspect. People who don’t need
corrective surgery are allowed to get it to enhance their ‘self-esteem’.

  • Ash Sivils replied

Oh I have seen Maynard MANY times
with Tool and APC, I LOVE Maynard, have
    you listened to Puscifer much?

  • BYRON

    BYRON

    Nope, never heard of them.

I dont mind APC, seen them live too.

Its such dark twisted music. Heavy metal with classical influence.

  • Ash Sivils replied

Puscifer is Maynard’s latest project, you should
go and check them out.. I favor Momma Sed the best

  • BYRON

    BYRON

Thanx, I will look for it.

    I only have 1 TOOL CD. – “10,000 Days.”

Did you know that you still can not buy their filmclips on DVD?

My life wont be complete until they release their filmclips!

  • Ash Sivils replied

Ah, I have a lot of bootleg videos from
the concerts.. there are cd bonus boxes
they put out back in 99 or 2000 that has

It tells you about it here.. I got it the day
it came out a long time ago haha I am
    a HUGE Maynard fan!

Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that you like Maynard.

I have also discovered the joys of NINE INCHE NAILS. If you like them, get the North American Winter & Summer Tour DVD.

    Freaking awesome.

RIGHT WHERE IT BELONGS is such a great song.

and does anything need to be said about CLOSER that hasn’t been said before?

  • Ash Sivils replied

Haha, yes I like the 90’s rock era… hell that is
when I grew up, saw way too many bands living in
Nashville and traveling about. I live down the street
from the guitarist for Full Metal Jacket. I could tell you
    some damn stories, ha!

Any who, if you like Trent check out Saul Williams if
you haven’t already, he amazes me with his intelligence!

  • atomikboy

True, but sometimes it can make people feel a little more confident….....some people are born with horrific abnormalities…...I have personnal experience with “Cranio maxio/facial” unit, they work wonders…...but really, underlying it all, it’s a very poignant message, society needs the facelift…..nice work Ash!!!

  • Ash Sivils replied

I agree it can but when unnecessary
it’s a real shame. People who don’t need corrective
surgery are allowed to get it to enhance their ‘self-esteem’.
But then again, nothing is “wrong” with them physically,
    it’s more mental.

  • CATNIPMEOW

    CATNIPMEOW

Wow…........this is true on so many levels…..........even if your are blessed with beauty naturally….......there is pain with that as well….......like perhaps thats the only reason why some people might want you….......might maybe even tell lies to get you…......assuming thats all that matters…...........beauty whether real or superficially imposed is only skin deep !!!!!

  • Ash Sivils replied

Very true – when you are attractive and you do not
carry yourself perfectly you suffer. Name calling and
such. When men act a certain way towards women
because of their looks – I find it repulsive.

  • Ash Sivils replied

I am so relieved that this image has gotten

  • Matt Bottos

    Matt Bottos

Awesome image with a very poignant message. Well done!
Many people today look towards the quick fix or the external/phyiscal answer without even considering the emotional state. Many of the people who have self esteem issues (Im one of them) have so due to external pressures. In a way the quick fix is masking the problem without actually addessing it. I’d be interested to know the stats on how many people go back for more surgery after their first.
Although I do think that cosmetic surgery has its place in extreme cases.

  • Ash Sivils replied

I agree with you on so many levels and thank you for
your compliment and comment! I think we all deal with
self esteem issues – I’ve never met anyone that didn’t,
I think it makes us human.

I’ll have to find the updated stats – this was made in 2007
so I am sure they have changed, hopefully for the better!
I am always so curious on the psychological stand point,
I think that may be why some people become addicted.
That may not be true but it’s just a thought.

  • anthony dimichele

Ash, as you know this is one of my favorite images you have made. It needs to be said…
have you ever read Antonin Artaud’s work? He coined the term: Theater of Cruelty.
Check out his travel journals to The Land of the Tarahumara… or the poem: Return of Artaud the Momo.
    keep up the great work.

  • Ash Sivils replied

Anthony – no I’ve not into depth. I have little time since we
spoke last on the phone. I have been researching everything
you have told me. I passed the book of you sent me to another
artist, I thought we could keep the thought going!

I have a HUGE idea that I have sent to three artists I would
like to see done. I am not able to do it myself but I have faith
in you, and a couple of others. Is you number the same as
last I called? If so, I will call you again – I am dying to see
the thought visualized after a decade of thought!

    With much respect thank you!
