once upon a time in a faraway land
all people did lived in peace
children sang and smiled with open hearts
and were safe walking any street
the clean air you could breath
and the sun did no harm
rain forest weren’t cut or burnt
and food was grown on farms
mankind knew all life was precious
gifts from nature’s store
never to be taken for granted
nor abused or ignored
for in this land the people knew
a simple secret for living well
was all about being grateful
to each generation they did tell
every living thing has purpose,
and is created equal in nature’s sight
so if it is peace we are truly seeking
we must uphold all living rights
now there has to be a new beginning
for on one thing all humanity can agree
the planet and her people are suffering
we’re too global to pretend we can’t see
if “The Right’s of a Child” were upheld
in every nation it became the law
the world would soon start to change
Antarctica would no longer thaw
caring for the most fragile of our species
would begin to cause a rippling effect
that could save the world we live in
for we would no longer accept the neglect
of all the glorious gifts nature’s given
on the planet we all have to share
if we would all agree to protect the children
then of everything else we would take care
