Born 1987 in the vast and urban landscapes of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Steven Sandner spent little time growing up before migrating to Australia in the 1990’s.

His childhood years were spent in the enriched countrysides of rural Victoria. At the tender age of 6, with his father’s Nikon F3 and a roll of film; Steven’s curiosity and first encounter with photography became an unfolding fascination, along with love that proceeded well into his adolescent years.

Steven’s passion for photography advanced throughout high school. Beginning and following his attraction to black and white film, intrigued by its ability to manipulate and intensify emotions, many of his modern works today still feature these alluring elements. Steven Sandner’s representation in photography is built upon what he obtained from his teenage years; it is due to this, his photography depicts instability, drama, loneliness and the desperate search for hope and purity… or just something more to life.
