Taken on the Bitterroot River south of Florence, Montana USA. The day was very grey but I saw the sun slip through just enough to illuminate the Cottonwoods, aspen and other foliage on the bank. You can see it was calm, no wind, so the reflection was pretty, too. This is our favorite stretch of the river, coming here is like coming home. Canon EOS 7D, 1/2000s, f/4.5, ISO:800, 70mm – I had my EF70-300 f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lens on the camera. It is not usually a lens I use for landscape photos and I was looking for birds to photograph. One must make do in the moment as the lighting changes and I did.

    How beautiful!

  • Thank you so much!!! It is difficult to post a photo of a grey day, not knowing if it would be appreciated. I am so glad you like it.

    Lovely light!!

  • Thank you Kay. A little different type of shot for me. I wanted to remember that day, that time, that place. Jack and I were on the river for the last time of our fishing season and it was melancholy.

    Stunning capture.

  • Thanks Julie. I wasn’t sure people would like this one…but it has more views in a couple of days than ANY of my other photos. Who knew? Thanks for your comment.

    Such a wonderful capture!

  • Thank you very much. Funny how sometimes you just don’t know until you get home and load it on the screen. I wanted to capture the moment, but didn’t think it worked well. I was wrong. It worked just fine.
