2011 in Montana has had a cool and wet spring. The wildflowers are blooming a little later than usual, but when they come on, there are more blooms than the last few years. Lupine (Family: Fabaceae, Pea and Genus: Lupinus) has been very prolific this year.
This field of Lupine is under an Pine tree overstory in the Bitterroot Mountains near Sweathouse Creek west of Victor, Montana, USA.
Canon EOS 7D, 1/100s, f/5.6, ISO: 200, 140mm
Cannon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lens

This photo is included in my Lupine card series 1 and is available in prints, posters, etc.

Not quite as full here, but the poppies I threw in them are blooming too.

  • Both Lupine and wild Clematis were amazing here this year. I do love poppies, too!!!
