This is a self portrait of myself. My husband always asks me why I never take pictures of myself. I’ve finally decided to do one and I decided to focus on my hands. I’ve had type 1 diabetes since I was 13 years old. It’s something that I have tried to hide so I can feel normal. It’s a disease that haunts me, frightens me what it can do to me. After all these years I’m finally learning it is a part of me and always will and it doesn’t have to haunt me. Anyways….this is for all the finger pokers out there….stay strong!

This is wonderful. So hard to come out of ourselves to show the darker, scarier portions of ourselves. This is not only very good work, but it’s also brave. Bravo.
